THE STANDARD ERROR FOR A POPULATION MEAN

Lesson 5

This is a technology simulation lesson designed to begin to develop a confidence interval for the mean of a population. Students will find the familiar theme of sample parameters and margin of errors already seen in the previous lessons of this unit. The lesson begins with a brief example to help students connect this lesson with the previous lessons. Then a Classroom Investigation guides students to simulate gathering SRS data using Excel. The sample data with three different sample sizes is then used to compute three margin of errors.
