LEVELS OF CONFIDENCE

Lesson 4

This is a Socratic lesson. The teacher will explain the intricacies of computing a confidence interval, or the sample size, for a proportion when the level of confidence is selected a priori. The purpose of this lesson is to further explain the relationships between the variables entering into the formula for confidence intervals for different levels of confidence. The teacher will ask probing question as the lesson progresses and will encourage all students to actively participate in the discussions. The lesson includes Classroom Investigation 7.4, and homework problems. Students may be assessed at the start of the next period based on discussion of the homework assignment.
