AN EXAMPLE; SCHOOL INVOLVEMENT

Lesson 3

This is a Problem Set lesson designed to strengthen the understanding and application of the method of Statistical Inference studied in the previous two lessons. The teacher will introduce the topic of a Gallup Poll which is of interest of both school educators and students. The link provided in the lesson may be used to read the conclusions and recommendations derived from the poll by Gallup professionals. The class may also be asked to respond anonymously to the questions of the poll and the results can be compiled for classroom discussion and comparison with the national data. The teacher will encourage all students to actively participate in the discussions. The lesson includes Classroom Investigation 7.3, and homework problems. Students may be assessed at the start of the next period based on discussion of the homework assignment.
