THE STUDENT t-DISTRIBUTION
Lesson 6
This is a Socratic lesson designed to continue the development of a confidence interval for the mean of a population. Students will find the familiar theme of sample parameters and margin of error already seen in the previous lessons of this unit. The Student t-distribution and its relation to the normal distribution is the main topic of the lesson. Excel is utilized to compute values of the distribution. As we will see in the next lesson, these values are the critical values needed for the confidence intervals when the sample size is small.
